Red Cross FDV Financial Assistance

The Australian Red Cross’ Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) Financial Assistance program is available to all people on temporary visas, or with uncertain visa status, experiencing family and domestic violence, in need of financial support.

The Financial Assistance program provides up to $3,000 in financial assistance to people who are eligible to help cover expenses such as accommodation, food, and medical care.

Emergency Relief Funds - Darwin

We help people in financial crisis by providing financial and material aid and we connect them with support services to build financial resilience and help address the underlying causes of the crisis. Assistance may include food vouchers, Food Bank vouchers and fuel vouchers.

The Katherine Doorways Hub

The Katherine Doorways Hub is a drop-in centre and community space supporting people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in the Katherine region. As well as a safe and friendly place to come and relax in the air conditioning, at the Hub you can access food (soup every day at 11am), washing machines and dryers, clothes, showers, sanitary products and cold water. Tea, coffee or toast can be purchased from The Beacon for 50c. The Salvation Army emergency relief runs from the Hub Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9am -10:30am.

Financial Capability & Well Being Hub

This service assists all people in financial difficulty through helping them to address their financial problems, make better choices and build long term capacity to budget and manage money.

The hub services include:

Financial Counsellors help to resolve personal financial difficulties, advocacy on behalf of clients concerning debts & financial issues and assist to manage and make informed choices available on appointment; and

Emergency Relief

This is available for clients in financial distress or hardship and have limited means or resources. Assistance is offered in the form of food, blankets, financial literacy and financial counselling.

In Alice Springs Lutheran Care provides community services on behalf of the Lutheran Church of Australia under the Vision of ‘Working together to change lives and build caring, resilient communities.’

 

 

Independence Program - Alice Springs (TIPAS)

Provide regular outreach support, assist families with physical and material needs and help them to obtain permanent housing.

Doorways Palmerston

Service includes food vouchers, hampers, clothing, furniture and assistance with power, water, telephone bills and other financial assistance.

Emergency Relief

Emergency relief in the form of food vouchers and financial support with overdue power bills.

No Interest Loans Scheme (NILS) - Darwin

The Somerville No Interest Loans Scheme provides families and singles on low incomes with flexible and affordable credit for the purchase of essential household items such as refrigerators and washing machines.
