Eligibility Criteria: 
a child or young person up to and including 18 years of age; • the child is affected by or showing early signs of mental illness. • accompanied by a family member or significant adult willing to engage and work with the service or be a young person who has the consent of a parent or other responsible adult to participate in the service. • Address must be in catchment area – Palmerston/Litchfield, Katherine or Gunbalanya - okay if this is temporary address (i.e. in hospital, women’s shelter etc). Can accept 10% outside of catchment. • Children do not need a diagnosis. • Children can’t be in care of Territory Families/child protection system (as distinct from in contact with) or be restricted by their location such as in Youth Detention.
Assessment Procedure: 
Referrals are accepted from any source including self-referrals; must have consent for referral. Children 16+ need to co-sign the referral. • Referral is screened. • Contact made with referrer & participant’s caregiver. • Discussion about CFWS program with caregiver to gain basic understanding of supports required. During this contact, the face-to-face appointment will be booked to meet the caregiver and child. • During face to face meeting required consents and CFWS Strengths and Needs Intake Assessment are completed (Common Approach) • During assessment we also look at whether the primary caregivers requires their own individual supports and where eligible would refer to adult supports.
