Proof of Identification

The Larrakia Nation has Information Referral Offices (IRO) which provide user-pays services to Indigenous people who are living in or visiting Darwin from remote and interstate locations. This service provides people with high integrity photographic ID which allows access to ordinary services, such as Centrelink, banks, mail, housing, MVR and transport services.

Return Home

Also referred to as 'Return to Country', this service assists clients to return to their homelands when they get stuck in Darwin or because they need to return home (within the NT only). The Indigenous Referral Office (IRO) provides these services without requiring cash upfront as our clients do not generally have access to credit or funds when there is an emergency. Our IRO services enable clients to manage their affairs more efficiently.

Larrakia Intervention and Transport Service (LITS)

Larrakia Nation Intervention and Transport Service case management team provide case plans and on-going case management for long grass and the homeless for the Darwin and Palmerston areas and most often newly arrivals from remote communities who require our assistance.

Referrals to Accommodation and Other Services

While accommodation is scarce in Darwin, we contact all the Aboriginal Hostels on a daily basis to determine where vacancies exist. We will do our best to secure accommodation for our clients. We will also refer clients to a range of other services and agencies to meet their individual needs.
